WTO Decides for US Over China in A/V Products Distribution Case

This was the “other” case filed way back in April 2008, if my memory serves me correctly. I just saw the news on this, so nothing of substance to say at this point.

I’ll take a closer look tomorrow probably, including any stupid comments I might have made on this blog as to the probable disposition of the case. Always embarassing.

For the moment, the news and downloads can be found here. The panel report is only 500 pages, so no problem. Maybe I’ll have my China FDI Law students read the case this term, just to make them think I’m a tough professor.

Keep in mind that this case goes directly at China’s film import restrictions and distribution rules. Haven’t read the panel’s conclusion here, but it could certainly change things up in the entertainment industry if some of these restrictions are found to be GATT inconsistent.

More on this tomorrow.
