Wiki News Accounts Are Confusing Me
I was excited when Wiki came back online here in China a few weeks ago. Lots of quiet fanfare from those of use that rely on it. All of a sudden there are a host of articles out there in the last day or so about the great unblocking. In the meantime, Wiki has become blocked again. So what’s with the articles? Is everyone just a little bit too late?
Something tells me that I’m missing part of the story. Don Clarke posted on this today, linking to the Boston Globe. Reuters is also reporting on the same unblocking story. On the other hand, China Herald is talking about the re-blocking. Forced to choose, I’d go with Fons for the most updated news on this, considering the business sector at issue here.
The definitive answer? I can’t get on Wiki without a proxy. That’s where things stand at 6:00pm Friday evening in Beijing, for what it’s worth.
