Wake Up and Smell the Exports
The coffee market sure has changed over the years. This is interesting:
China will export coffee directly to the United States in April under a deal signed between the ECUM Coffee Group and Yunnan Hogood Co Ltd.
In a statement on Saturday, Hogood said that it will export 240 tons of coffee beans monthly to Atlantic (USA) Inc, a member of Denmark-based ECUM Coffee Group.
Previously, Chinese coffee reached foreign consumers via international coffee suppliers such as Nescafe and Starbucks.
My only question is when there will be such a plentiful supply of cheap, ordinary coffee in China that I can stop begging my sister-in-law to schlep huge tubs of Costco coffee to me on her China trips. (Obviously my standards are not too high — Yunnan coffee might be acceptable if the price is right.)

Would be nice to get cheap local coffee in China. Maybe when I return to the states I’ll be able to drink Chinese coffee for the first time. Damn, does that sound weird.
