Some news has already leaked out on this horrific bus crash/explosion/fire that was responsible for the death of 23 people. The bottom line thus far:

Essentially, someone brought combustible/flammable stuff on the bus, causing the explosion. They don’t know yet whether this was intentional or if this was an accident.

The investigation is ongoing.

Interesting that whenever there is a plane crash, train wreck or similar accident, it is always chalked up to human error or the actions of an individual.

Reminds me of the Bush Administration blaming prisoner torture on “a few bad apples”. Kind of obviates the need for any shift of policy or, in the case of the bus crash, new safety measures or equipment upgrades. One does have to question, however, why they would let someone on a bus with stuff like that.

Anyway, this is still in the early stages, so my negative comments here should be chalked up to Monday crankiness and Beijing’s bad weather.
