Piling on CNN
Explain to me why the notorious Fort Dix terror plot, which involved a bunch of pizza delivery guys in the U.S. who were allegedly going to attack a military base in the U.S. (yes, it was completely silly) was reported on very seriously by CNN with the following headline
“Official: Radicals wanted to create carnage at Fort Dix” and yet CNN yesterday reported on the plot announced by the Chinese government with this headline: “China ‘uncovers Olympic terror plot’”? Those quotation marks also appeared in the news blurb crawl at the bottom of the screen last night on CNN International.
Non-issue, or is there some sort of double standard here?
Of course there is a double standard, but I think you are wrong to make fun of the Fort Dix plot as just about every plot that fails looks silly in hindsight. I would bet that had we caught the 9/11 terrorists before they did their deed, most people would have thought it was pretty much nothing.
