McCain’s Running Mate?

Some initial speculation about who John McCain would choose as his Vice Presidential running mate has China implications:

One person who’s getting only a little attention, but perhaps should get more, is Chris Cox. The former California congressman and China hawk is a poster boy for conservatives and currently heads the Securities and Exchange Commission. He would both bring California into play and bring some much needed economic acumen to McCain’s camp. That could make things interesting.

Heaven forbid. This is the nutjob that brought us the paranoid anti-China Cox Report in 1999.

  1. That Cox report is a classic. It says PRC about a million times and uses the good old thermo-nuclear weapons scare a lot. Even better, it basically says that defense technologies and security are so widely outsourced that China basically can shop for whetever they want. Says more about the US system of developing new technology. The most shocking revelation in the report was that countries actually have spies. Can you imagine? China has spies in the US and the US supposedly has none in China. How shocking a report. Think about the time and money spend on it. You tax dollars at work!
