Is Hollywood Trying to Sabotage ASEAN+3?

Great deal of news recently about the EU-ish plans of ASEAN, Korea, Japan and China. Will we ever have an EU analog in Asia?

Many folks in the US are scared as hell at the possibility, worrying that Asia might move on towards consolidation and minimize the US’s Asia power.

Hollywood to the rescue. If this movie gets a lot of attention, I’m sure it will make those negotiations between the Chinese and Japanese representatives that much more uncomfortable (than they already are):

According to a little blurb in Variety, John Woo’s next film, Flying Tigers, is being developed as a star vehicle for Tom Cruise who is now attached. Cruise and Woo worked together on Mission Impossible 2 back in the late 90’s(released in 2000). I know the script was being written with Crusie in mind, but he wasn’t attached to it at the time. If Variety has their facts straight, then perhaps he is really attached to the project.

The movie is based on a true story set in WWII, about a group of American volunteer fighter pilots who worked with the Chinese Air Force to help fight off the Japanese. The film will focus on Claire Lee Chennault, the commander of the Flying Tigers unit that helped end the war in China. (Geek Tyrant)

Subtle message to China: stick with us Americans, not the Japanese.

Sounds like kind of a crappy movie, though.
